Catch-up

Sorry I haven't kept you all up to date lately...my "excuse" is that I've been too busy, but I guess it's really just too lazy...sorry.

Sunday through Tuesday we had a visit from a great friend of ours and of the ministry and we tried to get our mud pump running again while he was he. No luck yet on the mud pump, so you pray for us. We have a well that only needs the casing and pump set to be completed. It's a very strong well in a very needy village...so, please pray.

Wed. through today we had a team from the Washington D.C. area consisting of Michael, Matt & Shane who were with us when first saw our children in their previous home. It's been over a year since they've seen the kids and they were "wowed" at the difference! They 'spoiled' the kids (it's kind of like having grandparents come and spoil the kids, then leave) but they had great fun.

Now we're trying to get back into the 'regular mode'.

Please pray for our friends in Kansas, Mike & Kim Maples. Mike has melanoma and he and Kim need your prayers for healing and strength.

  1. The mud pump problem could be a bad suction hose or foot valve. Even though the suction might not be visibly leaking fluid it could have a pinhole or fracture at a fitting that leaks air when pulling a vacuum, causing the pump to break suction. Also a defective foot valve will cause the same problem, the pump wont hold prime.

When it comes to packing always remember that there are a few pieces of rope packing, then 2 plastic grease inserts, then a 2 more pieces of packing and a rubber end piece. A lot of times guys will not get all of the old packing and plastic pieces out before installing new packing, allowing the pump to continue to pull air.
If there is a problem with the impeller it will be with the back, there should only be about .030 clearance between the back of the impeller and the wear plate.Excessive wear there will put a lot of stress on the packing.

Remember to use a lot of grease on the packing and dont tighten it too much, it will cause the shaft to wear.
Thats all I can think of, if you need any other help my email is bob@rochewelldrilling.com, we will keep you in prayer.

    God Bless You
    Bob Roche
